I’m not actually sure if I have ever let my phone die. I plug it in every night, and I have bought multiple power banks (from meh) that I carry around with me.
Followup: What did I do the last time my phone ran out of battery? Plug it in to charge and finally hit the sack. Same for the times before that. (It doesn’t happen often. I charge my phone every night.)
I generally have like a half dozen ways to charge my phone. On occasion it gets low when Im away from all that so I just set it on power saving mode. Hasnt died on me in years
Gosh, it was like 10 years ago and I was using it to navigate from Birmingham to Fort Walton Beach which is mostly back roads.
I saw some police officers and they gave me directions. I made home.
I also stopped at a gas station in a small Alabama town after dark. A black man came over and asked what I was doing. It seemed obvious but I responded “I’m getting gas.” He told me “it ain’t safe for you here. Get in your car and go.” Which I promptly complied.

Good chance you were less than 50 miles from my house.
And that interaction made me think immediately of a classic Cheech and Chong bit (which is now probably considered totally unPC but it’s still funny as s***)
Specifically at 5:00 mark…
My phone rarely dies totally. I have sufficient ways to charge around the house/in the car/power banks if I need to available to me virtually all the time. I need it because I accidentally forget my phone in the car when it’s sitting in the charger getting used for GPS.
Come to think of it, probably the last time my phone totally died was when I left it on top of my car and it fell off on an 8 lane road then got run over multiple times… That sucked.
Pro tip: Power bank won’t help that.
My dad once left his small business daily deposit from the days receipts on top of his car when he left the biz intending to go to the bank.
After hours in a small business district, so there wasn’t a lot of foot traffic
Astonishingly the person who found the envelope (which had more than $6000 in cash plus a lot of checks) called the bank because the deposit slip was filled out
The bank called my dad and he got all the money. Nothing missing.
He and my mother took the guy and his wife out to a very, very nice dinner afterwards
——
My dad was also a tennis fanatic, and he kept believing his very nice rackets on top of the car and driving away
Usually, after games when he was more tired
I think he lost three or four rackets that way over the years
He never got one back I don’t know what happened to them
My mom would joke that he did that every time he wanted a new racket, but didn’t want to ask her if she minded about the cost
But he always got exactly the new racket that he wanted, which was fine with mom who was also a tennis fanatic
I selected nothing on the poll and then read the write-up. I came to realize that things can become very difficult if the phone quits. I’m looking forward to Government Mule later this month but my tickets are in the digital wallet on my phone. The mapping app to get me there is also on the phone. There’s more inconveniences as I think about it. But, I could print my concert tickets and use my brain to navigate to the venue by memory of a previous event I attended there. Another problem is, remembering to print the tickets…does my printer even work? (It’s been a minute since I’ve printed anything)
Concerts (other than small clubs).are such a PITA (thx Ticketmaster!) that I just don’t.
I’ve seen many of the bands I cherished, way back when. I now cherish the memories.
Once upon a time the Stones played I think 3 nights locally in a 90,000 seat stadium.
This was before Ticketmaster and we stood in line and then the tickets were sold on some sort of lottery basis to the first 100 or 1000 people in the line at all the sears stores or something like that
We managed to get fifth row center for the first night.
That was awesome
We found out by talking to the guys scalping outside that you could get nosebleeds for $15 because that stadium was fucking huge
So we came back the next two nights and got nosebleeds for $15-$20 apiece and it was a wonderful wonderful weekend
And back even further in time, I once had third row center tickets in a tiny auditorium for five dollars apiece for Led Zep. I think this was just after their first album release, but I’m not certain.
Aside from the fact that my ears didn’t function as devices with which to hear for a week or something, that was also awesome

Wordsworth commentary re-purposed to rock concerts before Ticketmaster:
Bliss was it in that dawn to be alive,
But to be young was very heaven
My phone rarely dies. But it is my only phone in the house and it is also my alarm clock so when it dies there is an impact.
Having said that, I have two cute little pink power banks that I believe I bought from here. One stays in my purse at all times… when it is drained, I switch it for the changed power bank

I was still functional, I had to be, still had stuff to do before I got home!
Zen. I feel like a day without a phone is a day of peace.

I have 2 phones! Neither one has ever died either; I carry a power bank in my purse.
Last time it happened to me was back in 2012. It was a very bad day … they made a documentary …

I plug it it once I notice. I only really take my phone with me when I leave the house if I want to photograph something.
I think the universe and time came to an end, evaporated and disappeared
But I’ll have to check that on my phone
/giphy end if the universe

I missed the the killer’s call, so he had to skip to the next victim.

We were evacuated from a wildfire so it was very stressful not having a fully charged phone.

Plus some venues won’t accept paper tickets anymore.

WORKER BEES! HERCULES! TURKEY GREASE! AWESOME!
I didn’t notice for a couple of days - attached the charger once I did. (Not a phone-o-philiac.)
I missed a morning alarm because it died overnight. That’s the first time it has died completely in years.

i don’t think I’ve let my phone die in a decade or more at this point tbh
i honestly can’t remember the last time my phone ran out of juice…
